Since Januari 1st this year all vehicles heavier than 3500 kg. (including MH's and Vans) are obligated in France to have blind spot stickers on their MH . 6 stickers, measures 25X17 cm to warn people for the blind spot.
It's good to warn people for the blind spot, but again a stupid rule to put stickers on the MH. Drivers of MH's should be aware of the blind spot and how to handle. The fine if you have no stickers will be 135 Euro. The French MH association have petitioned for an exemption for MH's. Will inform you if changes have occurred.
Where do you put the six stickers Ad? 1 left 1 right 1 at the back of the van
and the other 3?
If you are pulling a trailer there have to be some stickers on there too by the way.
French transport organizations think its ridiculous and tell the government they better focus on technology. Like the mirror cams Mercedes Benz is installing on its trucks.
Reason for the measure seems to be an accident that happened in Paris 2 years ago. A attaché of Parliament was killed by a truck while riding a bike in the city. And with rising popularity of cycling in France, Parliament had the idea they should do something to make the inner-city roads safer for cyclist and pedestrians.
The argument of the transport organization that the measure is introduced too hastily is taken into consideration and the police is instructed not to fine drivers who don't have the stickers for the next 2.5 months.
The new law is not discussed with the other European countries. That will happen in a few months or so.
